WASHINGTON – It's tournament time for American University volleyball, and the fourth-seeded Eagles will host fifth-seeded Loyola Maryland in a Patriot League quarterfinal match at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 16. AU has won 16 of 20 Patriot League titles since joining the league in 2001, last winning in 2019.

PATRIOT LEAGUE TOURNAMENT INFORMATION
- Top-seeded Colgate will host the semifinals and championship on Saturday-Sunday, Nov. 20-21. The two seed, Lafayette, also has a bye in the quarterfinal round.
- Third-seeded Army and sixth-seeded Navy will play at Army in the other quarterfinal on Tuesday.

INSIDE THE SERIES
- American leads Loyola Maryland 34-3 all-time, but lost this season's first meeting 3-0 in Baltimore on Oct. 5.
- In the second regular season meeting, the Eagles gutted out a 3-2 win at home on Oct. 23.
- One of the other three losses came in the spring season of 2020-21 with a 3-1 loss at home on March 19. The Eagles then beat the Greyhounds on the road, 3-1 on March 26.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT AMERICAN
- The Eagles won seven of their last eight Patriot League contests to climb to the upper half of the standings and finish in fourth place at 11-5.
- Junior Zeynep Uzen, a three-time Patriot League Player of the Week this season, was named to the All-Patriot League First Team for the second time in her career. Uzen leads the Eagles and ranks third in the PL with 4.03 kills per set.
- Also honored by the league's coaches was senior Carlie Fikse who was named to the All-Patriot League Second Team. Fikse leads the league with a hitting percentage of .335, and ranks seventh with 0.89 blocks per set.
- Graduate student Chiara Bosetti is AU's leader defensively with 4.52 digs per set which ranks fourth in the PL. She posted a career high 38 digs the last time AU faced Loyola Maryland on Oct. 23.
- American has never missed out on advancing to the PL Tournament semifinals since joining the league in 2001. The Eagles won 16 of 19 Patriot League titles through the 2019 season, and lost in the semifinals at Colgate in the shortened 2020-21 season.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT LOYOLA MARYLAND
- Loyola had the best start in its program history through 19 matches, going 14-5. The Greyhounds' 6-2 start to their Patriot League schedule was Loyola's best since joining the conference in 2013.
- Loyola suffered a tough stretch in late October with four straight losses, including a 3-2 defeat at American on Oct. 23, but the Greyhounds closed out the regular season at 3-1 and upset top-seeded Colgate on Nov. 13.
- The Greyhounds lead the Patriot League in opponent hitting percentage, holding other teams to a .162 mark.
- Loyola is seventh in all of DI in digs per set (18.21) with a dig total (1,773) that also leads the conference.
- Senior libero Katie Forsythe, who has the PL record in career digs (2,177) was named the PL Libero of the Year this season for a third straight time, and also named to the All-Patriot League Second Team.
- Abby Hamilton, the current PL Player of the Week who leads the team and ranks second in the league with 4.26 kills per set, was named to the All-Patriot League First Team.
