WASHINGTON – In the final match of the regular season, American University volleyball will host Army West Point and honor two seniors prior to the 4 p.m. match on Saturday, Nov. 13. The Eagles will be hosting one more match in Bender Arena as well, a Patriot League quarterfinal on Tuesday, Nov. 16.

INSIDE THE SERIES
- American leads Army 43-9 in the all-time series, but lost to the Black Knights in five sets earlier this season.
- The Eagles beat Army three times in the 2019 season, sweeping them in the regular season before earning a 3-1 victory in the Patriot League Championship.
SENIOR DAY
- Despite the challenges of joining the team for its COVID-shortened season in 2020-21, Fanny Ahman has brought an undeniable spark after transferring from the beach volleyball program at Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
- Fanny posted a career-high 32 digs in a win at Howard and a career-high four aces in a win vs. Duquesne.
- She will earn her degree in journalism, and was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll as a junior.
- As a transfer in 2019, Chiara Bosetti helped AU become a Patriot League Champion team for the 16th time in 19 years in her first season.
- Over three years she has played in all but three matches, and has been AU's starting libero for two seasons. She has recorded 821 digs and 97 aces, and ranks third in the PL in league-only matches with 5.47 digs per set.
- She earned her undergraduate degree in foreign language and communication media and is now working toward a master's degree in strategic communication.
- She has twice been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT AMERICAN
- The Eagles have won six of their last seven Patriot League contests to climb to the upper half of the standings, currently in fourth place at 10-5.
- American is assured of hosting a Patriot League quarterfinal match on Tuesday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. The Eagles' opponent will be either Navy or Loyola Maryland. Colgate has clinched the regular season title and will host the final four teams in the semifinals and championship on Nov. 20-21.
- For a third week in a row, junior Zeynep Uzen was named the PL Player of the Week on Nov. 2. Uzen has been an absolute force of late, posting a career-high 30 kills in a 3-2 win vs. Loyola Md. and following that up with 28 kills in a 3-1 win vs. Navy.
- Another career-high vs. Loyola came from Chiara Bosetti with a career-high 38 digs, ranking eighth in NCAA D1 in a four-set match in 2021.
- AU has three players ranked in the PL top 10 for blocks, with Allie Burke at No. 4 (1.01), Carlie Fikse at No. 7 (0.91) and Katie Putney at No. 9 (0.84)
- Bosetti leads the team and ranks fourth in the PL with 4.61 digs per set. Her 38 digs vs. Loyola topped her previous career-high of 35 digs (in three sets) from early October.
- Hall of Fame Head Coach Barry Goldberg is in his 33rd season with a record of 794-295. He has the fifth-most wins of any active Division I coach.
- 2021 marks American's 20th as a member of the PL after joining in 2001. AU volleyball has won 16 of 20 possible league titles during that time.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT ARMY WEST POINT
- The Black Knights have won five of their last six matches and currently stand in a tie for second in the PL at 11-4.
- After falling to American in the 2019 PL Championship, Army made its way back to the title game in 2020-21 and earned its fourth championship in program history.
- Army made its second NCAA Tournament appearance this past spring and won a set vs. Notre Dame before falling 3-1.
- The Black Knights were picked to finish third in the league's Preseason Coaches' Poll, with Paige Fixemer and Allanah Cutler earning spot on the Patriot League Preseason All-League team.
- Fixemer leads Army with 2.97 kills per set (seventh in the PL) and 1.03 blocks per set (third in the PL).
- Junior libero Sayler Butters leads Army with 4.92 digs per set which ranks second in the league.
