INSIDE THE SERIES
  • American has only topped Loyola Maryland once since 2004, a 2-1 victory in Baltimore on Oct. 18, 2017.
  • Loyola is 10-1-2 in the last 13 meetings between the programs.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT AMERICAN
  • AU is one of four teams (Army, Lafayette, and Colgate) vying for the final spot in the Patriot League Tournament and must win on Wednesday to have a chance at qualifying for the first time since 2015.
  • The Eagles can clinch the No. 6 seed in the conference tournament with a win, an Army loss to Boston U., and a Lafayette loss/draw against Navy.
  • A win over Loyola would also give AU women's soccer its best record in Patriot League play since going 4-4-1 in 2013.
  • Tate Jordan leads the Eagles offense with five goals and three assists for 13 total points. She entered her senior season with one career goal and one career assist.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT LOYOLA
  • Baylee DeSmit has scored in consecutive games after providing the game-winner last weekend vs. Lehigh and scoring against Boston. The current PL Midfielder of the Week now leads the team with nine points (4 G, 1 A) on the year.
  • Loyola has guaranteed a top four seed and at least one home game in this year's conference tournament. The Greyhounds can place no lower than third with a victory.
  • They could rise to No. 2 with a win and a Navy loss/tie vs. Lafayette OR a Boston U loss to Army. They would clinch the No. 1 seed with a win, a Navy loss/tie AND a Boston U loss.
  • A loss would make Loyola the No. 4 seed. The Greyhounds could finish No. 3 or No. 4 with a draw, depending on the result between current No. 4 seed Bucknell (4-2-2, 14 pts) and current No. 5 seed Lehigh (4-3-1, 13 pts).
FULL STAFF
  • Coach Harper added two new coaches to her squad for this fall season, rounding out her staff in year two.
  • Matt Freibaum was brought on as an assistant coach to work with the attacking unit, among other duties. He joins AU after two seasons at Wofford.
  • Martina Loncar is serving the team in a volunteer assistant role while she pursues a Master's degree at AU. A four-year letterwinner at Colgate, her experience in the Patriot League will undoubtedly be a valuable resource for the Eagles.
SISTER, SISTER
  • The Mahony sisters are the first siblings to play for AU Women's Soccer since 2000, and just the fourth pair ever.
  • Olivia, a senior, and Jordan, a freshman, played for The Pennington School for one season, although Jordan played only sparingly as a high school freshman.
  • The most heralded sister duo in AU Women's Soccer history is the Pike sisters. Liz holds every scoring record in program history and is in the Cassell Hall of Fame, while Julia is fourth in program history in career assists with 15.
  • Liz played for AU from 1990-93, while Julia was on the team from 1992-96.
