HARRISONBURG, Va. -- The American University men's soccer team had several quality scoring chances on Tuesday night against No. 23 James Madison but could not find the back of the net, earning a 0-0 tie. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Robbie Matei had AU's first shot on goal just three minutes into the contest.
• James Madison controlled possession the rest of the first half, holding a 6-2 advantage in shots taken in the period. 
• Although the Dukes took more shots, the Eagles made a couple of dangerous runs in the second half. 
• In the 54th minute, David Coly beat the keeper one-on-one but missed his shot just left. 
• Dilane Zouantcha had a great look at the go-ahead goal in the 72nd minute thanks to a beautiful pass from Jack Green, but his shot sailed high. 
• In the first overtime period, American controlled possession deep in JMU's half for most of the period, but was unable to generate a shot attempt. 
• In the final overtime period, American held a 4-3 advantage in shots taken and 2-1 advantage in corner kicks, but could not find a golden goal for the second game in a row. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• 21 different Eagles saw action tonight, including the first minutes of the season for Nicholas Shirley. 
• Lorenzo Gordon and and Dominic Dominguez combined for AU's third clean sheet of the season.
• Matei and Zemi Rodriguez led AU with two shots apiece.  
• The Eagles remain unbeaten in overtime this season, holding a 2-0-4 mark so far. Four of AU's last five matches have required extra time.
