Men’s Soccer Falls to Loyola Maryland, 3-0

BALTIMORE – Back-to-back goals in the early part of the second half pushed Loyola Maryland to a 3-0 win over American University men's soccer on Tuesday night at Ridley Athletic Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Loyola drew a penalty kick in the 17th minute that was right on the edge of the 18-yard box.
  • Dominic Dominguez made the initial save on the PK attempt, but the Greyhounds were able to rush the box and score on the rebound.
  • In the 42nd minute, fresh off subbing into the match, Mattias Cooper served up a great free kick into the box that found the head of Kevin Ventura. Unfortunately, Ventura's header bounced up and off the crossbar and out of danger.
  • David Coly appeared to have a step on the Loyola defense after a great feed from Robbie Matei, but his shot missed wide right in the 54th minute.
  • Zemi Rodriguez fired a great shot just about 20 seconds later but Chase Vosvick was there to pick up one of his two saves on the night.
  • Loyola blew the game open in the 61st minute as Kelan Swales made a great run all the way into the box and fired a shot just past Dominguez.
  • Less than a minute later, Loyola drew a second penalty kick and Justin Ingram made this one count, drilling it right down the middle.
