- The Eagles came away with a season-high 44 boards against the Mids' 39 but trailed Navy in second chance points, 10-9.

- Mary Kate Ulasewicz led the Midshipmen with 15 points while Jasmine Bishop earned a team-high seven rebounds.
- Navy closed shooting 26.2 percent (16-61) from the field, 29.4 percent (5-17) from the perimeter, and 75 percent (3-4) from the line.
- The Eagles had a strong start to the game, gapping Navy 9-0 before the Mids were able to get on the board at the 5:05 mark.
- By the end of the first, AU had built up a 14-6 lead behind nine points from Edwards.
- The second quarter was a different story, though, as the Eagles struggled to regain that offensive tempo and hit a scoreless seven minutes while Navy went on a 10-0 run to pick up a 16-14 lead.
- Marenyi got AU back on track with a fast break layup after a steal and assist from Sanders to tie the game at 16-16 with 2:54 left in the half.
- By the end of the stanza, AU regained a two-point lead at 20-18 behind a pair of baskets from Sanders and sophomore Taylor Brown.
- Navy kept tight with American in the early minutes of the third quarter, landing within one on three occasions behind key baskets from Ulasewicz and Nyah Garrison.
- The two teams were locked at 25-24 for nearly 1:30 midway through the quarter before sophomore Laura Graytock sank her first of two treys to break the drought.
- A closing 7-2 solo run from Edwards brought the score to 37-30 heading into the final stanza.
- Edwards continued that run into the fourth quarter, sinking a layup in the first minute to give the Eagles their largest lead since the first quarter at 39-30.
- Once again, both teams hit a drought midway through the quarter with a 4:00 stretch stuck at a 44-38 lead before a pair of Navy free throws brought the Mids back within four with just over two minutes left.
- It was all AU in the final minute, though, as a jumper from Edwards and a pair of free throws from Sanders closed the game at 48-40.
