WASHINGTON - The first home dual meets of the season have American University wrestling hosting EIWA opponents Brown and Drexel. The Eagles (0-3) look for their first dual win vs. Brown (0-0) on Friday, Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. Drexel (5-3) comes to Bender Arena on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 7 p.m. when AU celebrates Alumni Day.

MATCH NOTES

• Four AU wrestlers are ranked in the Top 25, led by redshirt junior Kizhan Clarke, currently at No. 9 (Intermat and The Open Mat) in the 149-pound weight class.
• Redshirt junior Tanner Harvey is No. 11 (TrackWrestling), redshirt junior Gage Curry is No. 15 (The Open Mat) and redshirt senior Sal Profaci is No. 24 (FloWrestling).
• Clarke, with an outstanding overall record of 25-3, took fifth place at the prestigious Midlands Championships at the end of December. He has four titles to his name this season, and posted a 2-1 mark in AU's first three dual meets.
• Also going 2-1 vs. Wyoming/Army/UNC were Curry and Profaci. The Eagles struggled as a team, falling to all three opponents at the West Point Duals on Jan. 4.
• The Eagles took 15th place of 35 teams at the Midlands Championships, their best team finish since 2011.
• AU is currently fifth in Division I in total falls with 41, led by sophomore Ben Root (174) with eight wins by fall. 
• Brown has not competed in a dual meet yet this year, and is led in wins by freshman Ricky Cabanillas (14-7 at 149).
• AU and Brown have matched up twice in the last 10 years, with the Eagles winning both, including an exciting, 18-17 victory on the road in the 2017-18 season.
• Drexel is already 5-3 in dual meets this season, and the Dragons are led by redshirt senior #16 Ebed Jarrell (12-5 at 165).
• The Eagles beat the Dragons 21-16 on the road last season, avenging losses from the two previous years.

UP NEXT

• AU will be on the road next weekend, taking on Lehigh on Friday, Jan. 17 and Columbia on Sunday, Jan. 19.
