WASHINGTON — The American University women's soccer team will open up the home portion of the nonconference schedule on Wednesday at Reeves Field hosting local foe George Washington at 5 p.m.
GAME NOTES
That's My Quarterback
Charly Slavick was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week after scoring her first goal of the season against UNC Ashville. The senior defender totaled 135 minutes through both games last weekend for the Eagles. Slavick led the American defense in allowing only one goal in two games to open up the 2019 season.
Charm City Dagger
Freshman Fisayo Iluyomade picked up the PL Rookie of the Week Award after scoring her first two collegiate goals against USC Upstate on Sunday. Iluyomade is the first AU rookie in four years to score multiple goals in a season. The last pair of AU freshmen to score more than one goal in a season were Audrey Denkler and JoJo Miller in 2015. Iluyomade is also the first AU freshman to score two goals in a game in over a decade.
Come Sail Away
Sophomore Juliana Saling leads the Eagles and the PL with three assists. Saling had a pair of assists in the 2-1 win over USC Upstate and picked up a helper in the win over UNC Ashville.
Keeper of the Stars
Junior keeper Ryleigh Brown made four saves for her fourth collegiate shutout and her fifth win of her career against UNC Ashville. Brown recorded three clean sheets last season and posted a career 1.46 goals against average. Senior Amy Krotine made three saves in the win against USC Upstate.
Scouting Georgie
The Colonials come to Reeves after falling to William and Mary, 2-0, to start the season. Tamaki Machi made her GW debut in goal and made two saves.
Home Cookin
AU will remain in the District for two more games against VMI on Aug 31 and Binghamton on Sept 6.
