WASHINGTON - Senior
Kristen Largay became the new all-time leader in career digs for American University volleyball as the Eagles (17-7, 10-1) took down Bucknell (13-10, 2-9) in straight sets on Friday night for their 10th win in a row.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Largay needed eight digs to surpass Natasha Sylvain ('94 - 1,865) on the all-time digs list, and finished the match with 11. She now has an AU-record 1,869 digs in her four-year career with the Eagles.
- The sweep was the third straight for the Eagles, who stand atop the Patriot League at 10-1 along with Colgate.
- Junior Helena Elbaek led AU with 11 kills and zero errors for a hitting percentage of .440.
- Continuing her impressive play was junior setter Olivia Wassner with a team-high 14 digs to go with 23 assists and three service aces.
- Senior Jeanne Westney knocked down six kills with no errors, and tied freshman Onuchi Ndee for the team lead with four blocks.
- The Eagles' dominance was most evident in their blocking and serving. AU had eight blocks to Bucknell's three, as well as eight aces compared to just one for the Bison.
- The final scores had AU winning 25-11, 25-21 and 25-18.
- Bucknell made a run near the end of the second setÂ
- In the series vs. Bucknell, the win was AU's 46th in a row. The Eagles are 47-1 all-time against the Bison.
