WASHINGTON - The run continued for the American University field hockey team (9-4, 4-0 PL) on Saturday after the Eagles shut out defending Patriot League champion Boston University (4-9, 1-3 PL) in Boston, Mass., with a 2-0 final score.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Junior Noor Coenen got things rolling for the Eagles early, putting in her 10th goal of the season in the seventh minute to give American a 1-0 lead.
  • That score held until the third quarter when sophomore Hannah Moser spread the gap to two with a reverse stick shot after an assist from freshman Charllene Boshoff.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Fiona Minter had her second consecutive career-high performance, picking up seven saves in her second shutout of the season.
  • For only the fourth time this season, the Eagles trailed in shots, 14-10, but held the slight advantage in penalty corners, 5-4.
HEAR FROM COACH JENNINGS
"We are obviously really happy to get the result on the road against a rival as strong as BU.  Our deep defense was incredible today and had to come up big on many occasions.

"We have shown great growth over the past weeks and need to continue to push to get where we want to go."
