CENTER VALLEY, Pa. —  American men's basketball junior Sa'eed Nelson picked up the GEICO Student-Athlete of the Week and Patriot League Player of the Week Awards after leading the Eagles to a 2-0 record over Boston University and Bucknell.

Nelson averaged 23.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 3.5 steals while shooting 52 percent (15-for-23) from the field.

The junior guard scored 26 points, dished out six assists and recorded five steals in a 70-66 victory over the Terriers on Wednesday.

Nelson scored a game-high 20 points in a 76-68 win over first-place Bucknell on Saturday.

American travels to Loyola Maryland on Wednesday before hosting Holy Cross on Saturday.
