FAIRFAX, Va. –  Fiona Caulfield and Anna Derrow placed sixth and seventh in the women's 3-meter diving competition to lead American University finishes on Thursday at the Patriot Invitational swimming and diving meet at George Mason.

American was seventh in the men's team standings with 46 points after the first day, and the women were in eighth place with 79. UNC Wilmington led both team standings after the first of three days of competition, with the men scoring 252.5 and the women at 269.

AU's large freshman class came into the Patriot meet having posted a number of marks among the women's top-16 all-time. They added to that total on Thursday evening.

Ellie Kight went 5:02.99 to move into ninth all-time in the 500-yard freestyle, placing 19th in the finals.

Alex Brosvik is now fourth in the 50 free after placing 11th in the final and going 24.13 in the morning prelims. Abby Longstaff went 24.20 in prelims to move into sixth all-time.

Sophomore Ryan Jolley cut four seconds off her previous season-best in the 200 individual medley to move into 13th all-time at 2:08.63.

On the men's side, Scott Callander had AU's best finishes in both the 50 freestyle (11th in 21.14) and the 200 IM (1:56.63). Freshman Liam Riebling cut eight seconds off his season-best in the 500 free, swimming 4:47.10.

The nine-team Patriot Invitational continues at George Mason through Saturday.
