@AU_SwimDive Travels to Howard on Friday

WASHINGTON – The American University swimming and diving teams head across town on Friday evening for a double-dual meet at Howard, beginning at 6 p.m.

The Eagles finished ahead of the Bison to open the 2017-18 season when AU was second in the men's and women's team standings at the Potomac Relay Invitational, held at the Reeves Aquatic Complex.

The women scored more than 80 points higher than Howard at the relay meet, with the men finishing four points head. George Mason won both titles at the invitational.

For AU, the meet at Howard continues the early season competition with heavy training regimens. The Eagles will train hard until tapering for the Patriot Invitational at George Mason in mid-November.

Last Friday, American had five student-athletes win a pair of events in a double-dual with Loyola Maryland. Senior diver Fiona Caulfield and freshman distance freestyler Ellie Kight each won two events against the Greyhounds for the women.

Junior Scott Callander (100 & 200 butterfly), sophomore Garrett Sooter (1,000 freestyle, 400 IM) and freshman Liam Riebling (200 & 500 free) each had a pair of individual victories last week.
