Volleyball Puts Streak on the Line Wednesday at Morgan St.

The American University volleyball team will travel to Baltimore to take on the Morgan State Bears on Wednesday, September 29 at 7:00 p.m.

American (13-2) has won 11 of its last 12, including a pair against Colgate and Bucknell this past weekend. The Eagles are led by the senior duo of Magdalena Tekiel and Angelina Waterman, who share the Patriot League lead with 3.65 kps. Tekiel was named last week's Patriot League Player of the Week and also sports a league-best .352 hitting percentage. Waterman, meanwhile, notched 3.91 kps and 2.18 dps in three victories last week. Junior Alexandra Hammer has dished out a league-high 9.85 aps since taking over at setter, while Deborah Frantz and Katerina Cinkova lead the team in digs (3.41 dps) and blocks (0.96 bps), respectively.

The Eagles are off to their best start since 2001 and lead the Patriot League in nearly every statistical category, including hitting percentage (.292), opponent hitting percentage (.150), assists (12.34 aps), kills (13.52 kps), blocks (2.23 bps) and service aces (1.84 sas).

Morgan St. (2-12) will enter play Wednesday having lost 12 of its last 13 matches. The Bears are led by junior Erin Cox, who has averaged 2.46 kps and 1.96 dps this season. Setter Natalie Chafeh leads the team with 4.90 aps while senior Dominique Bozier has a team-high 0.73 bps.

American has never lost to Morgan State, sporting a perfect 21-0 record against the Bears. In last season's match up, the Eagles won in straight sets by scores of 25-23, 25-17 and 25-19. Tekiel and Waterman each tallied nine kills in the victory.
