The American University men's basketball team will return to
Bender Arena on Sunday, January 17, against Colgate live on CBS
College Sports. Tipoff is set for 2:00 p.m. The Eagles have just
concluded a six-game roadtrip and will be playing their first game
at home in nearly a month. American will put its 10-game winning
streak against the Crusaders on the line Sunday and look to improve
to 18-3 all-time against Colgate.
American concluded a season-long six-game roadtrip at Bucknell on
Wednesday, falling in overtime, 72-68. The Eagles held a 32-28 lead
at the half but put the Bison at the line 15 times in the second
half as they made their comeback. Bucknell hit 4-of-6 shots in
overtime and 5-of-6 attempts from the free-throw line to secure the
victory.
Junior Vlad
Moldoveanu recorded his second double-double in as
many games at Bucknell, scoring 19 points with a career-high 13
rebounds. Moldoveanu shot 4-of-9 from beyond the arc and added two
assists. He was joined in double-digits by classmate Nick
Hendra who notched 15 points, six rebounds and five
assists and sophomore Stephen
Lumpkins who tallied 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting.
Freshman Daniel Munoz dished out a career-high six assists
with five points and four rebounds.
Moldoveanu has paced the Eagles in scoring since becoming eligible
for competition at DePaul on December 16. The junior is averaging
18.4 ppg while shooting 45.0 percent from the field and 41.1
percent from three. Lumpkins ranks third in the Patriot League in
rebounding and second in blocked shots, registering 7.8 rpg and 1.6
bpg, and has added 11.2 ppg. Hendra is third on the team in scoring
at 10.7 ppg with 5.7 rpg and a team-best 34 three-point field
goals.
Sunday's game will be broadcast nationally on CBS College Sports.

John Feinstein.
