Eustis led the American University men's cross
country team to a second place finish at the 2009 Patriot League
Cross Country Championships on Saturday in Hamilton, N.Y. Brown and
Eustis each earned First Team All-Patriot League honors with their
performances, placing fourth and sixth, respectively. Sophomore Octavia
Rinehardt and senior Greta
Wicklund were also First Team All-Patriot League
selections after placing fifth and seventh, respectively, as the
women's team finished eighth.
Brown led the Eagles with a fourth-place finish, completing the
8k course in a time of 26:30.9. His pace put him just behind
Navy's Andrew Hanko who took the individual title in a time
of 26:17.9. Eustis placed seventh, finishing just behind Brown in
26:34.8. Both Brown and Eustis were named to the All-Patriot League
First Team by virtue of their performances, the first cross country
all-league award of their respective careers.
Also scoring on the men's side were junior Jeff
Brannigan, sophomores Ryan
Williams and Josh
Olsen. Brannigan placed ninth in a time of 26:36.1
while Williams took 17th in 27:06.4 and Olsen 21st in 27:15.8. By
way of his ninth place finish, Brannigan was named to the
All-Patriot League Second Team for the second consecutive year.
Rinehardt earned her first cross country first team accolade
with a fifth-place performance on the women's side after
earning second team honors at last year's championship. The
sophomore finished the 6k race in a time of 23:15.6. Wicklund was
also named First Team All-Patriot League for the first time in her
career, turning in a seventh-place performance with a time of
23:16.7.
Senior Rachel
Forcino placed 26th for the women in 24:22.5 while
sophomore Lauren
Scholl took 53rd in 25:58.3 and freshman Kellie
Quinn 54th in 26:50.3.
