Eustis Leads Men's Cross Country at UVA Panorama Farms Invitational

The American University men's cross country team placed seventh at the UVA Panorama Farms Invitational on Friday in Charlottesville, Va. Junior Colin Eustis paced the Eagles in the 10k event and finished in 20th place in a time of 24:20.03. Sophomore Octavia Rinehardt was the lone runner to compete in the women's 6k race and placed 19th overall.

Eustis continued his impressive season to lead American against three nationally ranked teams and three additional teams ranked in their respective regions. The junior's time of 24:20.03 was only one minute and four seconds slower than the race's winner. He was joined by classmates Jeff Brannigan and Conor Sullivan who placed 37th and 41st, respectively. Brannigan finished in a time of 24:43.14 while Sullivan reached the finish line in 24:53.11.

Also competing for the Eagles on Friday were sophomore Ryan Williams (24:53.68), Craig Brown (24:54.87) and Josh Olsen (25:20.52) and freshman Mark Leininger (25:37.20).

Rinehardt posted a time of 21:45.11 in the women's race, good for 19th place overall. Her time was only one minute and 32 seconds behind the leader.

The rest of the women's cross country team will be in action tomorrow, Saturday, October 17, at the Blue and Gold Invitational in Newark, Del.
