Olivia Henley joined the American University Athletics staff as an Associate Director for Athletics Communications in August 2022. In her role, Henley serves as the primary communications contact for women’s basketball, field hockey, lacrosse, and cross country/track. Â
Henley comes to AU after a year with Long Island University in Brooklyn working with men’s and women’s basketball, softball, women’s water polo, men’s volleyball, fencing, women’s ice hockey, and track & field. While there, she was also responsible for capturing photos and creating graphics for website use and social media posts for all LIU affiliated accounts. Henley’s tasks were also comprised of day-to-day and game day coverage including writing news releases, covering games, and coordinating game-day staffing for all home events.Â
A 2021 graduate of Belmont University, Henley received a master’s degree in Sport Administration and is a 2017 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she earned a bachelor’s degree in communication studies. While at Belmont, she worked with Nashville Soccer Club for a year doing communications and fan engagement, working through their transitional rise from the USL to the MLS.Â
Prior to Belmont, Henley worked with the U.S. Soccer Federation in 2018 in the Development Academy doing both administrative work and event coordinating as well as generating content for social media channels such as Instagram and Twitter throughout major events. While an undergraduate at Carolina, she worked primarily with men’s soccer, volleyball, baseball, and men’s and women’s tennis writing feature stories and taking photographs both at practice and games.
