Kaito Takagaki

Kaito Takagaki joined American University as an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach in June 2026. In his role, he assists with the development and implementation of strength and conditioning programs designed to enhance athletic performance and support the overall development of AU student-athletes.

Prior to arriving at American, Takagaki spent three years at Sam Houston State University as an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach, working primarily with the men's basketball and women's tennis programs.

Before his time at Sam Houston State, he served as an Assistant Athletic Performance Coach at the University of California San Diego, where he worked with women's basketball and men's soccer.

Takagaki earned a bachelor's degree in kinesiology from San Diego State University in 2021 and a master's degree in kinesiology with a concentration in sport performance from Point Loma Nazarene University in 2023. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and is fluent in both English and Japanese.
