Nikki Flores finished her ninth season as an assistant coach at American University in 2021-22. She serves as the team’s recruiting coordinator and works primarily with the point and combo guards. Throughout her nine seasons, Flores has helped guide the team to an overall record of 160-106 (.602), including 105-48 (.686) in the Patriot League and five 22+ win seasons. The Eagles have also earned three Patriot League titles, three berths into the NCAA Tournament, and two WNIT appearances.

Upon her arrival in 2013-14, Flores made an immediate impact with the development of Jen Dumiak, who closed her prestigious career as one of the most decorated players in program history. On the court, Dumiak was the Patriot League Player of the Year in 2015, an ECAC All-Star, and a two-time All-Patriot League selection. Her success continued in the classroom as she was selected as the overall Patriot League Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2015, was voted the Division I-AAA ADA Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and earned selections to the CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team and Division I-AAA ADA Scholar-Athlete Team.

Flores was also vital in the development of 2014 Patriot League Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Alexis Dobbs, 2015 Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, Shaquilla Curtis, and 2018 Patriot League Player of the Year and PL Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Emily Kinneston. Dobbs, Dumiak, and Kinneston were also the Patriot League's NCAA Woman of the Year nominees in 2014, 2015, and 2018, respectively. Dobbs went on to earn an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship and the American University President's Award in 2014.

In all, Flores has mentored two Patriot League Players of the Year, one Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year, two ECAC All-Stars, seven All-Patriot League selections, four PL All-Defensive Team selections, three PL Women's Basketball Scholar-Athletes of the Year, and five Academic All-PL selections.

Flores arrived at AU after a year as an assistant coach at Colgate where she focused on recruiting while assisting with individual workouts and analysis of game film. She also spent three seasons as the top assistant and recruiting coordinator at Holy Family, during which time the team won three consecutive Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference titles and advanced to the NCAA Division II tournament.

Flores was a four-year member of the women’s basketball team at Marist, earning All-MAAC second-team honors in her senior season and being honored on the MAAC All-Rookie Team in 2005. She helped lead the Foxes to four MAAC regular-season titles, three MAAC Tournament championships and three NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 appearance during her junior year.

Flores graduated from Marist College in 2008 with a degree in history and adolescent education.
