The 2018 season was Kris Hazard's 11th and final season at American University and third as an associate head coach.

In his tenure at American, Hazard helped the Eagles to some of the best seasons in program history, including spending the majority of the 2014 season in the top-20 in the nation with a win over then No. 1 UCLA. The success continued into the 2015 campaign as American defeated the defending national champions in Virginia and had a 14-5-3 record, breaking the school’s shutout streak en route to being named the 2015 Northeast Regions Assistant Coach of the Year.
 
Hazard played an instrumental role in the Eagles’ three Patriot League Regular Season Championships in 2008, 2011 and 2016 and in their three consecutive trips to the Patriot League Tournament Championship Game.

Hazard came to American from Tri-State, where he coached for two seasons. Prior to TSU, he served as the associate head coach at Wittenberg in 2005 and as an assistant coach the two previous seasons. Hazard recently served as head coach of the Citadel U-16 boy's team and the Ohio F.C. U-18 to U-13 boy's teams. He holds a National "A" Coaching License.

Hazard graduated from Wittenberg with a bachelor's degree in speech/English.
