Rebekah Houseman

Rebekah Houseman joined the American University Athletics staff as a strength & conditioning assistant coach in the summer of 2024. Houseman came to AU from Catawba College, where she served in a similar role for two years.

As the Assistant Director of Sports Performance at Catawba, Houseman designed and implemented sports performance programs for a number of teams including women's volleyball, men's soccer, and track & field. For a three-month stint in 2023, she served as interim director of the department. Houseman was previously a graduate intern in the Athletic Performance department at Lindenwood University from 2020-22. While at Lindenwood, Houseman designed and implemented strength and conditioning programs for the field hockey and women’s wrestling teams. She also assisted with the training for the football, baseball, softball, and men’s volleyball teams. 
 
During her time at Lindenwood, the women’s wrestling team had seven athletes qualify for the NCWWC Championships in their first full season in NCAA status. Both the football and baseball teams also won the GLVC conference championship. 
 
Houseman has also completed internships at all levels of the NCAA. At Saint Louis University in the Summer of 2021, she worked with the men’s and women’s basketball teams, as well as the women’s volleyball and women’s soccer teams. While at Elon in the Spring of 2020, she worked mainly with the football team while assisting with others. She also completed an internship at Springfield College in the Spring of 2019.
 
Houseman earned a bachelor's degree in applied exercise science from Springfield College in 2020. In 2021 she earned a master's degree in health science with a concentration in sport science and performance from Lindenwood University. She is a certified strength & conditioning specialist with the National Strength & Conditioning Association, and is also certified in First Aid/CPR/AED.
