Barb Weinberg begins her first season as an assistant coach on Head Coach Steve Jennings’ coaching staff, focusing on the development of the goalkeepers.

Weinberg came to American after serving as a volunteer assistant at the University of Maryland from 2010-2012, specializing in working with the goalkeeping unit. While at College Park, she helped lead the Terrapins to back-to-back National Championships in 2010 and 2011.

Weinberg graduated from the University of Iowa in 2005 with a degree in both psychology and health and sports studies. She was a two-time All-American for the Hawkeyes and carried a save percentage of .793 in her senior year. She led the Hawkeyes in saves from 2001-2004.

Along with her collegiate playing and coaching careers, Weinberg was a member of the United States National Team from 2005-2010. In 2006, she played in the World Cup Qualifying tournament in Rome and the World Cup in Madrid. She has 12 international caps in her career. She was also an alternate goalkeeper for the U.S. National Team at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
