FAIRFAX, Va. / WASHINGTON - The season began for American University men's and women's swimming & diving with the annual Potomac Relay Invitational, with diving taking place this year at AU while swimming was hosted by George Mason. Both AU teams placed third overall among the five teams in attendance.

Notable Results

• The women's 800 free relay team of Demetra Bicos, Abby Rothrock, Hailey Rees, and Lucy Penna placed second in 8:05.14.
• The men's 800 free relay team of Luke Martens, Lucas Standridge, Matias Garcia, and Jack Rivera also took second, going 7:05.37.
• Two more second-place finishes for the AU women came in the 300 back relay, with Piper Crosby, Lane Groce, and Becca Siegel going 2:54.93, and in the 1000 free relay with Rockrock and Bicos posting a time of 10:41.98.
• The AU women and the AU men both placed third in the 300 fly relay and the 400 medley relay, while the AU men also took third in the 300 back relay and the 1000 free relay.
• The women were third in the 300 breaststroke relay, the 500 free relay, and the 200 free relay.
• Junior Sean Memon took second place on the men's 1-meter with a score of 220.55, and third place on the 3-meter with a score of 200.95.

• On Saturday, Oct. 3, the Eagles will travel to UMBC for a tri-meet against the Retrievers as well as the VMI Keydets.
