WASHINGTON - Junior Luke Martens of American University men's swimming & diving has been named the Eagle of the Week for AU Athletics after winning four individual events across dual meet victories over Catholic and Howard.

Martens swept the three longest individual events in the Eagles' narrow 154-146 victory over Howard, winning the 1,000 freestyle in 10:05.44, the 500 freestyle in 4:51.12 and the 400 IM in 4:07.53. He finished 13 seconds ahead of the runner-up in the 1,000 free and more than five seconds ahead in the 400 IM, with the latter time ranking fifth in the Patriot League this season. Martens' 27 points proved crucial in the Eagles' eight-point win over the Bison.

The previous night at Catholic, Martens won the 1,000 freestyle in 9:54.85, finishing nearly 20 seconds ahead of the runner-up.
