WASHINGTON – Junior forward
Patryk Rojek gave the American University men's soccer team the lead in the second half against Loyola Maryland with his first career goal on Saturday afternoon, but a quick response from the Greyhounds leveled the score. The Eagles took away a 1-1 tie from their second Patriot League contest, moving to 1-0-1 in conference play.

How it Happened
- It was a quiet first half from both teams, with Loyola recording six shots but only putting one on goal.
- Rojek opened the scoring nine minutes into the second half, finishing off a transition breakout started by Boahen.
- The rookie from Techiman, Ghana dispossessed Ben Schouten at midfield and toe-poked an excellent ball ahead to Rojek that hit him in stride just outside the 18. Rojek took on his defender, taking a touch to his right foot to create space, and blasted his shot to the top right corner.
- Just seven minutes later, the response came for the Greyhounds. Tyler Flynn was given space about 10 yards outside of the box and drove a left-footed shot to the top left corner to beat Tubbs. The long-distance strike tied the score 1-1.
- American worked hard to find a winner, but came up short. The Eagles had the next-best chance of the match when Chris Sullivan applied pressure in the attacking third and took the ball away from Timi Adekunle, got in alone on goal, but his shot was saved by a charging Felix Huebner.
