WASHINGTON - Behind the generous support of 2,123 donors, American University Athletics raised $453,178 during the annual 36-hour Giving Day campaign, setting a new program record for dollars raised. The University as a whole raised $1,171,092 with 3,327 donors, with Athletics accounting for nearly 64 percent of total donors to the campaign.

"We are sincerely grateful to every supporter who helped us surpass our Athletics Giving Day goal," said Director of Athletics and Recreation JM Caparro. "Your generosity fuels our student-athletes' experience, strengthens our programs, and inspires us all. It's a testament to the passion of this community and the belief so many have in our Eagles. Thank you for making this record-setting campaign possible."

The wrestling program claimed the top spot in the team competition once again, earning a $10,000 challenge gift for raising the most dollars and an additional $5,000 for the largest single gift of the campaign. Men's basketball finished second in dollars raised, earning a $2,500 challenge gift, while the spirit program earned $5,000 for having the most donors and another $2500 for having the most new donors.

"Giving Day is truly a team effort, and to see our community show up the way they did — for the fourth consecutive record-breaking year — is incredibly rewarding," said Chief Development Officer Lindsey Campbell. "Since joining AU Athletics, watching this campaign grow into what it has become fills me with so much pride. None of this happens without our coaches, student-athletes, staff, alumni, and friends who give their time and energy to make it a success. I'm so grateful to be part of a community that believes so deeply in our Eagles."

American University Athletics thanks all those who participated in making the 2026 Giving Day the most successful ever, and we look forward to raising the bar yet again in 2027.
