Series History
  • This will be the 110th meeting between American and Navy, with Navy leading by the slimmest margin of 55-54. The series was recently tied at 52-52 before the Mids won three in a row, but the Eagles have now won two straight after a 2024-25 PL Championship victory and a 65-51 home win this season on January 12.
  • After falling 81-58 on the road and 68-60 at home in the regular season last year, AU turned the tables for a 74-52 win at home in the championship behind 25 points from Matt Rogers.
  • AU is 26-18 in home games against Navy, but had dropped six straight to the Mids in Bender prior to last year's PL championship.
  • The Eagles had won three straight in Alumni Hall prior to last year's 81-58 defeat in the PL opener.
What to Know About American
  • The Eagles are on a three-game skid since the end of January after previously winning four straight. Their last two losses were both on buzzer-beating shots by their opponents.
  • AU is the only Patriot League team with a win over Navy this season, starting that four-game win streak on Jan. 12 with a 65-51 victory behind a career-high 23 points from Greg Jones. The Eagles held the Mids to 22.5 points below their season average.
  • In both of AU's recent home games, the Eagles lost at the buzzer. Lafayette's Caleb Williams hit a layup just before time expired to break a 65-65 tie, and Bucknell's Achile Spadone hit a 30-footer at the buzzer to hand AU a 60-59 loss earlier this week.
  • Seven players—Wyatt Nausadis, Madden Collins, Kade Sebastian, Greg Jones, Julen Iturbe, Geoff Sprouse, and Dean Hogans—have been leading scorers for AU so far this season.
  • Collins leads AU with 13.0 points per game, followed closely by Jones with 12.3 points per game. Iturbe and Collins are the team's rebounding leaders at 5.3 and 5.2 per game, respectively.
 What to Know About Navy
  • Leading the Patriot League this season, Navy is 10-1 with an 18-6 overall record. The Mids had won eight straight prior to falling at AU on Jan. 12, and have since started a new streak of six in a row.
  • The Mids have allowed just 61.7 points per game in PL games to lead the league, and have a scoring margin of 12.0 points in conference games, with second-place Colgate at a 5.1 ppg scoring margin.
  • Senior guard Austin Benigni leads Navy and ranks second in the PL with 18.3 points per game. Senior center Aidan Kehoe is second on the team and eighth in the PL with 15.0 ppg along with a PL-best 10.6 rebounds per game.
  • Navy's overall scoring defense of 63.3 points per game is currently sixth in NCAA Division I. Kehoe's field-goal percentage of 74.3 leads all players in the nation, with his 10.6 rebounds per game ranking ninth nationally.
