LEWISBURG, Pa. –– American women's basketball program dropped a 58-45 contest to Bucknell on Wednesday on the road. The Eagles were unable to mount an offensive effort in the fourth that could combat the Bison's surged ahead, the home team shooting 58 percent in the final frame.
Inside the Box Score
- Madisyn Moore-Nicholson finished the first half with 10 points, leading all players on the court, and went on to finish with 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting.
- Molly Driscoll and Charlotte Tuhy helped out offensively with ten and nine points each; Tuhy also picked up nine rebounds which led all players on the court.
- Points in the paint and bench points were once again a problem for American; AU scored just 18 points down low to Bucknell's 30. The Bison claimed 18 points off turnovers. The Eagles only picked up nine points from their bench.
- Tuana Coskun, who finished the first half with two points for Bucknell, finished with 21 to lead all players on the floor. Reese Zemitis finished with 12 points.
How it Happened
- It was a low scoring affair and with five minutes down, the Bison led 5-4. The Bison shooting 2-of-7 and American opening going 2-of-6.
- Koepke picked up her second foul with four minutes to go in the first period, coming out of the game to keep from picking up another early foul.
- The first period finished with Bucknell leading American by four, up 13-9.
- Back-to-back threes from Moore-Nicholson brought American back within three, down 18-15 with five to play before the locker room break. The guard led all players on the court with nine points and was 2-of-3 from three-point range.
- Tuhy made it an 18-all game with another AU triple from the corner pocket. A Moore-Nicholson free throw had AU leading by one with three to go in the first half.
- The Eagles held the Bison scoreless for a five minute stretch, until there were 43 seconds remaining, and then the Bison added two layups to retake the lead, up 22-19 at halftime.
- American shot just 25.9 percent in the first half to the Bison's 33.3 percent. The home team scored 10 points off turnovers and had seven steals in the opening block.
- Moore-Nicholson with her third three of the game grabbed the first points of the second half for AU, keeping them on pace with Bucknell, down 26-24 at the seven minute mark in the third.
- Ashton, leading the Bison with eight points, would pick up her third foul with four minutes to play in the third, coming out of the game to prevent picking up another before the fourth quarter. She would pick up the fourth foul at the 8:22 mark of the fourth.
- With one minute left in the third, Bucknell took their largest lead, up 35-28 before Koepke cut into it with a layup.
- With ten to play, American found themselves with work to do, trailing by four, down 36-32. Moore-Nicholson on 15 points, had almost half of the Eagles' offensive luck on the night.
- Bucknell only outscored the Eagles by one point in the third, but their shooting was much more efficient, shooting 46.2 percent in the third to AU's 33.3 percent. It was the highest shooting quarter thus far for both teams.
- The fourth started with a 9-0 run in Bucknell's favor, taking a sizeable 45-32 lead before American broke in with a layup from Driscoll; the Bison responded on the other end with a layup, leading 47-34 with five to play.
- American picked up offensively in the second half of the final period, with Driscoll, Tuhy, and Laura Nogues adding 11 points. It wouldn't be enough to keep up with the home team though, and American would lose on the road to Bucknell by a 58-45 decision.

American will return home to D.C. to face off with Navy on Saturday, Feb. 7 in Bender. The Eagles will be hosting their National Girl's and Women in Sports Day clinic postgame.
