BOSTON –– A career-high 23 points and program-record setting rebounding day from
Charlotte Tuhy saw the Eagles of American University women's basketball force overtime but the squad was unable to secure the win in a 79-76 loss to Boston University on the road.
Tuhy now holds the women's basketball program's single-season rebound record. The freshman picked up 21 rebounds against the Terriers to improve her season total to 309. Tuhy takes down the record set by Mary Klima of 304 during the 1997-98 season.
American has secured itself as the No. 9 seed in the Patriot League Tournament and will now was to see who the No. 8 seed will be. With one game left of the regular season, the possibilities are either BU, Bucknell, or Lafayette for AU to face on the road.

- Tuhy led American on both ends, finishing with a career-high 23 points to add to her 21 rebounds.
- Three more Eagles finished in double digits: Anna Rescifina with 14 points and 10 rebounds sees her first career double-double, Molly Driscoll with 13, and Madisyn Moore-Nicholson with 12.
- The Terrier's Anete Adler was top of all players with 33 points. Bella McLaughlin and Anastasiia Semenova added 10 and 12 more respectively.
- At the end of the game, AU led 16-10 in bench points and BU led 46-30 in points in the paint.

How it Happened
- After opening the game with a steal and a break away basket from Tuhy, the Eagles held a narrow, early lead of 12-9 with half of the opening frame still to play. Rescifina led both squads with five.
- On a 12-0 run, American forced a Boston 30-second timeout with three and a half to play in one. American was up 16-9. Laura Nogues' steal and driving layup pushing the Terriers to call the stop.
- Up 20-14 through one, the two seniors were leading of the squad, Rescifina led with seven, Nogues with five. Both McLaughlin and Semenova had four for the Terriers.
- The second period saw the Eagles picking up the intensity, shooting 6-of-8 to open the frame and putting themselves up 14, leading 34-20. The Terriers were 2-of-9 from the field to open the second quarter, picking up six points with five to play before halftime.
- On 5-of-9 shooting, with two and a half minutes to play before halftime, the Tuhy led all players on both sides of the ball with 10 points and 10 rebounds. At halftime, she improved to 11 points.
- American was still holding a lead at the locker room break, up 37-31. The Terriers finished the first half on a 7-1 run, Adler carrying all seven points to bring the BU back into the contest.
- Ther Terriers came out running in the second half. Boston's Adler with six points within the first three minutes of the third caught the Eagles sitting back, BU down just two. Seven more unanswered points put the Terriers up 44-39, their largest lead of the day.
- McLaughlin had 10 points and Adler had 17 with six to play in the third, BU still playing aggressive, suddenly led by nine, 48-39 with five minutes to play in the penultimate frame. American was just 1-of-5 from the floor while Boston was 7-of-10.
- After being outscored 17-2, American finished the third period on a 7-0 run, down just four, 59-55, with 10 to play. The Eagles, led by Tuhy on 18 points, improved to shooting 50 percent in the frame, going 7-of-14 from the floor, their best shooting of the game thus far.
- A Driscoll three with eight minutes remaining put American back in the lead, 61-60.
- It was an extended run for the Eagles, 22-5 over a seven minute period with 4:53 to play for; the Eagles were up five, 67-62.
- It was a contentious final five minutes in Case Gym, American holding a narrow lead as time wound down, up 68-66 with 2:20 to play for.
- With 29.4 seconds left in regulation, American was on top 69-68, Rescifina with two made free-throws would make it a three-point, 71-68, game.
- The Terriers Inés Monteagudo 22.0 seconds left to tie it all up a 71-all. The Eagles finished regulation going 1-of-7 from the field. It would go to overtime, neither team able to find a winner with the time remaining.
- The home squad picked up the first points of overtime with another three from Monteagudo and would add to it with an Adler layup, leading 76-71 with 1:49 left in overtime.
- A pair of free throws from Koepke would have AU down one, 77-76, with 40 seconds to play, but Adler would make it a three-point game again, Terriers leading 79-76 with 14.2 remaining. Unable to make a move as the clock wound down, BU would claim the overtime win at home on senior day.

The Eagles remain on the road for their final game of the regular season; they'll take on Lehigh Wednesday, Mar. 4. in Bethlehem, Pa.
