Series History
  • There are 63 games on record between American and Lehigh, with Lehigh leading 34-30.
  • The Mountain Hawks had won four of five before the Eagles swept two close games in the series in 2024-25.
  • Lincoln Ball hit a shot at the buzzer for a 68-67 AU win at home on Jan. 22, 2025, and the Eagles gutted out a 78-75 road win in overtime on Feb. 8, 2025 behind 27 points from Matt Rogers and 23 from Elijah Stephens.
  • The teams split meetings in 2023-24 with each winning on its home court. AU holds a 17-11 lead all-time in home games, but Lehigh leads 22-9 in Bethlehem.
What to Know About American
  • The Eagles are on a four-game skid since the end of January after previously winning four straight. Two of the four losses were on buzzer-beating shots by their opponents.
  • AU is the only Patriot League team with a win over Navy this season, starting that four-game win streak on Jan. 12 with a 65-51 victory behind a career-high 23 points from Greg Jones. The Eagles held the Mids to 22.5 points below their season average.
  • In both of AU's recent home games, the Eagles lost at the buzzer. Lafayette's Caleb Williams hit a layup just before time expired to break a 65-65 tie, and Bucknell's Achile Spadone hit a 30-footer at the buzzer to hand AU a 60-59 loss earlier this week.
  • American is 10-4 at home this season, but just 3-8 on the road.
  • Seven players—Wyatt Nausadis, Madden Collins, Kade Sebastian, Greg Jones, Julen Iturbe, Geoff Sprouse, and Dean Hogans—have been leading scorers for AU so far this season.
  • Collins leads AU with 13.0 points per game, followed closely by Jones with 12.4 points per game. Collins and Iturbe are the team's rebounding leaders at 5.3 and 5.1 per game, respectively.
  • As a team, AU leads the PL in turnover margin (1.92), and steals (7.80 per game). The Eagles rank second in scoring defense (71.6 ppg) and second in free-throw percentage (.753). Their FT percentage is also good enough for 69th in NCAA Division I.
 What to Know About Lehigh
  • Lehigh comes into Wednesday's game 6-6 in the Patriot League, tied with American for third place in the conference.
  • The Mountain Hawks have lost their last two games, an 89-84 double-overtime heartbreaker at Loyola on Feb. 4 and a 76-67 defeat against Holy Cross on Feb. 7.
  • The Mountain Hawks' season thus far has been highlighted by a pair of one-point wins over second-place Colgate. Lehigh won 78-77 at Colgate on Jan. 10, then edged the Raiders 77-76 in overtime at home on Jan. 31.
  • Junior guard Nasir Whitlock leads the team, scoring 19.9 points per game. That leads the Patriot League and is 33rd nationally. Whitlock's .403 three-point percentage is fourth in the conference.
  • Sophomore big man Hank Alvey adds 14.0 a contest and a team-best 7.0 rebounds per game, third in the Patriot League.
  • Brett Reed, now in his 19th season at Lehigh, is the Mountain Hawks' winningest coach all time. He enters Wednesday's game with 297 career victories.
