Series History
- The Eagles are 17-6-8 against Lafayette all-time, but went 0-2 against the Leopards a year ago.
- Lafayette was the only PL team to defeat AU in regular season play, then upset the Eagles in the conference tournament semifinal at Reeves Field.
What to Know About American: 4-6-4 (4-1-1)
- The Eagles are coming off two resounding road victories in a four-day span, beginning with a dramatic 1-0 win over first-place BU last Sunday.
- AU and BU were scoreless through 89 minutes, until Chris Sullivan delivered a glorious strike that went off the left post and in to win it for the Eagles. It was Sullivan's second game-winner of the season, as he scored a remarkably similar goal against Colgate on Sept. 11 in the 87th minute.
- Just three days later, AU traveled to West Point, N.Y. and defeated the Black Knights behind late second half scoring yet again. Nicholas Beil struck first in the 80th minute, then Reyes Parra closed the door with a second goal in the 89th.
- Beil's goal came off a quality through ball from Oliver Snowdon, threading it through Army's back line to hit Beil in stride and set up the nearside finish.
- Parra was assisted by Moad Ezzahir, who beat his defender and laid the ball off for the senior's left-footed curler from outside the box.
- The Eagles have scored the fewest goals in the conference with eight, but they've found results behind their Patriot League-leading seven clean sheets. At the front of that effort has been sophomore goalkeeper Evan Tubbs, who's made 47 saves with a 1.00 GAA.
- Sullivan and Parra lead American in goals, both with two. Sullivan has fired 11 shots on goal.
- Head coach Zach Samol has gone deep into his roster this season, with all but five players appearing in at least 10 matches. Freshmen Rohan Chivikula and Yuta Phoenix have each made starts in the last five games, and Henrick Boahen has entered off the bench in all but one match.
What to Know About Lafayette: 3-8-3 (2-2-2)
- The Leopards are coming off a 3-1 loss in non-conference play to Drexel at home, with Oliver Gordon scoring the lone goal.
- In Patriot League play, Lafayette's two wins have come over Army and Loyola Maryland, both 1-0 victories.
- Last Saturday, the Leopards took their worst loss of the season to Navy at home 4-1, conceding three goals in the second half.
- Lafayette has scored just one more goal than AU on the season with nine, making Saturday a matchup between the conference's two lowest-scoring teams.
- Samir Dishnica and Lucas Gardeniers lead Lafayette in goals, both with two. Griffin Feather has dished out a team-best two assists.
- The Leopards are led by head coach Dennis Bohn in his 26th season.
