Men's Soccer Strikes in Second Half to Defeat Army, 2-0

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The American University men's soccer team continues to deliver in the second half of matches, scoring two late goals in a nine-minute span to defeat Army on Wednesday afternoon. Nicholas Beil struck first in the 80th minute, then Reyes Parra put the Eagles comfortably in front by two in the 89th. With the win, AU is 4-1-1 in Patriot League play and has a chance to finish at the top of the table with just three matches remaining in the regular season.

Notable
  • Beil's goal was his first since returning from injury on Sept. 19. The sophomore scored two goals in his rookie season, adding the third of his career after missing the first seven matches of 2026.
  • Oliver Snowdon picked up the assist for Beil, the third of his career.
  • Parra found the back of the net for the second time this season, and did so from outside the box for a second straight year against the Black Knights. He pulled off a similar highlight-reel curler against Army in September 2025 at home. Moad Ezzahir recorded his third collegiate assist on the long-distance strike.
  • The Eagles outshot the Black Knights 15 to nine and generated seven corners to their three, just the third time they've bested a team in both categories this season.
  • Evan Tubbs made two saves in the match, logging his and the team's seventh clean sheet of the year.
How it Happened
  • The Eagles were on the front foot from the opening whistle, threatening to score throughout the first half. Just 15 minutes in, Colin O'Brien headed corner kick feed off the left post from just in front of goal.
  • Four minutes later, Kobe Keomany squared a long-distance try that sizzled just right of the frame. Later on in the 23rd minute, Yuta Phoenx's shot from outside the box took a deflection and forced a diving save from Blair Camargo.
  • Unable to find the back of the net just yet, AU outshot the Black Knights nine to three in the first half and generated seven corner kicks.
  • Neither team created much danger through the first 30 minutes of the second half, but the Eagles stayed patient and eventually found holes in Army's attacking third to create their first goal.
  • In the 80th minute, Mason Miller played the ball into the opposing half to Javi Gonzalez, who one-touched a clever pass to Snowdon to get him moving forward in space. Snowdon threaded a ball ahead to Beil in-stride, and he pounded his shot to the top right corner to beat Camargo near side.
  • Nine minutes later with under two minutes remaining, Moad Ezzahir beat his defender on the left side and laid the ball off for Parra just outside the box. The senior captain fired away without taking a touch, curling a beautiful left-footed shot into the bottom right corner past the diving keeper.
Up Next
  • AU is back at home this Saturday, Oct. 24 for Senior Day against Lafayette in a rematch of the 2025 Patriot League semifinal. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
