WASHINGTON - Freshman Madden Collins of American University men's basketball has been named the Eagle of the Week, presented by Gregorio's, after two strong performances in a 2-0 week for the Eagles. The team has won four straight games and sits tied for second place in the Patriot League standings.

Collins posted his first career double-double in a 70-66 win over Colgate on Jan. 21 with 12 points and a game and career-high 12 rebounds. Later in the week, Collins scored 20 points to lead American to a 76-67 win at Holy Cross. He shot 63 percent from the field for the week and went 7-for-8 from the free-throw line. For the two games, Collins averaged 16 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.

The Eagles will play on the road again but closer to home, heading to Loyola Maryland for a 7 p.m. contest on Wednesday, Jan. 28.
