Women's Soccer Hosts Army on Saturday in Patriot League Opener

WASHINGTON – The slate is wiped clean for American University women's soccer as the Eagles look to start fresh in Patriot League play. The first conference game of the season has AU hosting the Army Black Knights at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20 at Reeves Field.

Parking on Campus
  • As of August 25, parking on campus is being actively monitored seven days a week, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

How to Get to Reeves Field
  • Due to ongoing construction of the adjacent Meltzer Center for Athletic Performance, entrance to Reeves Field for early-season home soccer contests will be at the south stairwell. 
  • From campus parking locations, please use the pedestrian walkway alongside the Media Production Center and enter by the President Kennedy speech marker and flagpole plaza.
What to Know About American
  • Three one-goal decisions are included in the Eagles 0-5-3 record so far as they continue to seek their first victory after earning draws in their most recent two contests.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Addison Roemer made a career-high 10 saves in AU's 0-0 draw at George Mason on Sept. 14, and the Eagles got a goal from senior Avery Klingensmith in a 1-1 draw against UMBC on Sept. 7. 
  • Sophomore Nariah Goldman and graduate student Jennifer McGuire have two goals apiece to lead AU this season, while seniors Eliza Fisher and Phoebe Merrigan lead the team with two assists each.
  • Senior Tamera Taylor-Moore made two recent starts in goal, and came up with seven saves against #10 South Carolina.
  • Defenders Eliza Fisher (senior) and Natalia Croce (freshman) have both played every minute of all eight games so far for AU.
  • In her fifth season at the helm in 2024, head coach Marsha Harper led the Eagles to a 6-6-3 overall record—the program's most victories since 2019.
What to Know About Army
  • Army won its final two non-conference games over North Texas and Princeton, both by a 3-1 score, to finish that portion of its schedule at 6-2-1.
  • Senior Jordan Follenweider is this week's Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week following those two victories, while senior Brigid Duffy is the PL Offensive Player of the Week following a three-goal effort over the two victories.
  • The Black Knights, coming off 12-6-1 season and a 5-3-1 league finish, were picked to finish second in the Patriot League and earned two first-place votes. Follenweider and Duffy were both named to the All-PL Preseason Team.
  • Duffy has six goals so far this season to lead Army, while junior Sabrina Rogers and freshman Sophia Henry have scored four goals apiece. Sophomore Karalyn Dall has played the majority of time in goal, making 32 saves for a 71.1 save percentage.
