WASHINGTON - Four deserving honorees were celebrated by family, friends and fans at their induction into the Stafford H. "Pop" Cassell Hall of Fame at American University on Saturday, February 1. The Class of 2025 was honored in Claudio Grossman Hall at the Washington College of Law.

Men's swimming & diving's Ethan Bassett (CAS/BS ‘04, MA ‘05), women's basketball's Alexis Dobbs (CAS/BS ‘14), wrestling's Daniel Waters (SIS/MA ‘05) and former men's basketball coach Jeff Jones (2000-13) were the inductees into the Cassell Hall of Fame which now includes a total of 103 athletic standouts at AU.

All attendees enjoyed a cocktail reception from 4:30 to 6 p.m. After an introduction from Director of Athletics and Recreation JM Caparro and remarks by American University President Jonathan Alger, dinner was served. It was first Hall of Fame ceremony at American for both Caparro and Alger, who started at their posts last summer.

Bassett, a three-time All-Patriot League First Team honoree, was the first to be recognized at the event and was presented by friend, former teammate, and fellow Hall of Famer Mark Liscinsky.

Up next was Dobbs, a two-time All-Patriot League First Team selection who was presented by her former teammate and best friend, Sarah Kiely.

Waters, AU's first All-American in wrestling, was presented by fellow wrestling Hall of Famer and AU's first national champion, Josh Glenn.

Jones, who coached AU to its first and second Patriot League titles in 2008 and 2009, was presented by former Director of Athletics Keith Gill.

Guests were treated to video introductions of all four inductees, which can be seen above.

American University's Stafford H. Cassell Hall of Fame has been in existence since 1969. Sponsored by the Cassell Family, the Hall of Fame was developed to recognize the achievement of individuals associated with American University Athletics and Recreation. Cassell was a legendary coach, athletic director, and vice president at the university.
