Swim & Dive's Mimi Watts Named Gregorio's Trattoria Student-Athlete of the Week

WASHINGTON - After another legendary performance at a Patriot League Championship that saw her win the sixth, seventh, and eighth gold medals of her career, American University women's swimming & diving's Mimi Watts has been named the Gregorio's Trattoria Student-Athlete of the Week.

Watts won Patriot League titles in the 50 free, 100 free, and 100 fly, three-peating in both the 50 free and 100 free, and winning the 100 fly for a second time. She concluded her career with eight gold medals and 12 total medals, while being a four-time All-Patriot League First Team honoree. With 96 points scored at the meet, Watts tied for first place among all women's competitors at the championships. Watts was also a part of the school record-setting 200 medley relay team that placed fifth on the first night of the four-day meet.

The honors will no doubt keep coming for Watts, but her swimming career at American has concluded after five seasons, the first of which saw no PL Championship due to the pandemic.
