Matt Rogers Earns Gregorio's Trattoria Student-Athlete of the Week Honors for a Third Time

WASHINGTON - For leading American University men's basketball to a 2-0 week and strengthening the Eagles' lead atop the Patriot League standings, graduate student Matt Rogers has been named the Gregorio's Trattoria Student-Athlete of the Week for a third time this season.

Rogers averaged 20.5 points per game and 9.5 rebounds per game in AU's home wins against Lafayette and Loyola Maryland. He posted a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds in the Eagles win over Lafayette, hitting the game-winning jumper with 3.2 seconds remaining for a 60-58 victory. Later in the week, Rogers went 4-for-7 from long range on his way to a game-high 22 points in a 72-51 win over Loyola Maryland, adding a game-high nine rebounds.

For the week, Rogers shot 65.4 percent from the field, and 50 percent from three-point range. Rogers is third in the PL with 17.1 points per game, seventh with 5.8 rebounds per game, third with a field-goal percentage of .559, seventh with a three-point field-goal percentage of .421, 10th with 1.8 three-pointers made per game, and 10th with a free-throw percentage of .759.

The Eagles are on the road for their next game, heading to Army West Point on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. They'll return home on Saturday, Feb. 22 against Boston University at 4 p.m. For tickets, click HERE.
