WASHINGTON - The defense held strong but the offense found few chances as American University women's soccer played visiting Holy Cross to a 0-0 draw in the final home game of the season. The Eagles' hopes of securing a Patriot League Tournament berth remain alive with the point earned, but will require a win at Bucknell as well as favorable results from other teams.

Notable 

• While total shots favored Holy Cross, 12-5, shots on goal were much more even as the Crusaders took three to the Eagles' two.
• Sophomore goalkeeper Addison Roemer had a clean sheet with three saves, while Holy Cross keeper Aubrey Haesche made two.
• Holy Cross had a wealth of opportunities on corner kicks with 11 in the game compared to two for AU.

How it Happened

• The first four corners for Holy Cross came in a 10-minute stretch of the first half. The Crusaders' Riley Grable took a shot that went high on the second corner, and Roemer made a save on Ava Graham's shot on the fourth corner.
• Roemer made her second save on another Holy Cross corner in the 40th minute. It was the final shot of the half for either team as Holy Cross finished the first 45 minutes with six total shots compared to just one for AU.
• The Eagles had shots on goal by Bella Miller and Avery Klingensmith in the second half, but both were saved by Graham.
• Roemer made her final save in the 80th minute, and the only shot of the final 10 minutes was an 86th-minute strike for AU's Madde Hurowitz that went wide to the left.
