WASHINGTON - For his efforts in leading the Eagles into a tie for first place in the Patriot League, senior midfielder
Sebastian Garces of American University men's soccer has been named Eagle of the Week for a second time this season. American handed Lehigh its first conference loss, 3-1, in its only game of the week.
Garces assisted on both the first and second goals in the game, both of which came in a 13-minute span after halftime. His efforts gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead, with the second goal proving to be the game-winner in a 3-1 decision. That game-winner saw
Taku Takahashi feed Garces toward the end line on the left side of the box before Garces turned and made a pass on one touch back to Takahashi, who blasted a one-timed shot off the crossbar and in, finishing off a brilliant connection.Â
The Eagles will face a tough non-conference test at #16 West Virginia on Tuesday, Oct. 15, before returning home to host Boston University on Sunday, Oct. 19 at 1 p.m.
