WASHINGTON - Thanks to a third-place showing for American University wrestling at the highly-competitive Southern Scuffle, redshirt sophomore Caleb Campos has been named the Gregorio's Trattoria Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Dec. 30-Jan. 5. It's the third such career honor for Campos after earning two in 2022-23 as a freshman.

Campos went 6-1 overall at the 22-team tournament, including an upset of All-American Lennox Wolak, the fourth-ranked wrestler in the nation. Campos' only loss came in the 174-pound quarterfinals on day one, to #8 Gaven Sax of Oklahoma. His wins included a pin of #4 Wolak in 1:44, two technical falls, and two major decisions in a dominant performance overall. His season record now stands at 13-5, with his four tech falls leading the Eagles.

American is off for two weeks before hosting Harvard at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 17.
