CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Caleb Campos placed third and Will Jarrell took fifth in a strong showing for American University wrestling on the final day of the 2025 Southern Scuffle hosted by Chattanooga. Campos went 6-1 overall including an upset of All-American Lennox Wolak, the fourth-ranked wrestler in the nation.

Notable

• After going 3-1 on the first day, Campos went undefeated through the consolation bracket to earn third place.
• In the consolation semifinals against Devin Wasley of North Dakota State, Campos was up 6-2 after one period and cruised to a 21-6 tech fall with six takedowns and three near-fall points.
• The real excitement came in Campos' second match of the day against No. 4 Lennox Wolak of Virginia Tech, a former All-American at Columbia. 
• Campos was already up 11-2 on Wolak before stunning last year's sixth-place finisher at the NCAA Championships with a pin in 1:44.
• To close out his impressive weekend, Campos scored two takedowns before winning by injury default against John Worthing of Clarion, who had beaten Campos earlier this season.
• Jarrell was 2-0 on day one but had less luck on the final day. 
• He came up against Army's Lucas Stoddard, ranked 24th, and lost 3-0 in the semifinals.
• Against Virginia Tech's Hunter Catka in the consolation semis, Jarrell struggled again in a 7-2 loss.
• The fifth-place title went to Jarrell after a medical forfeit by Morgan State's Xavier Doolan. Jarrell now stands at 13-5 for the season, tied with Campos for the team lead as Campos also stands at 13-5.
