WASHINGTON - For averaging a double-double in a pair of games for American University women's basketball, freshman forward Cecilia Kay has been named the Gregorio's Trattoria Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 6-12. Kay is having an outstanding debut campaign with the Eagles, ranking fifth in the Patriot League in rebounding and 14th in scoring.

Kay scored a season-high 22 points for AU against Boston University, hitting 7-of-10 free throws, blocking three shots, and pulling down nine boards. A few days later, Kay posted 16 points and a season-high 15 rebounds at Bucknell for her third double-double of the year. She hit 43 percent from the field for the week, 80 percent at the charity stripe, and made a pair of three-pointers.

The Eagles are back in action on Monday, Jan. 13 in a 4 p.m. game at Loyola Maryland that will be broadcast on the CBS Sports Network.
