Swim & Dive's Mimi Watts Earns Gregorio's Trattoria Student-Athlete of the Week Award

WASHINGTON - For her winning performances in American University swimming & diving's Potomac Relay Invitational, grad student Mimi Watts has been named the Gregorio's Trattoria Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 23-29. Watts played a huge part in helping the Eagles tie for the team win with George Mason on the women's side.

The Eagles hosted their annual Potomac Relay Invitational with visiting teams from Georgetown, George Mason, Howard, Mount St. Mary's and Mary Washington, making it the largest Potomac Relays in the history of the meet, which spans over 20 years. For the first time since 2019, the women won the meet, scoring 314 points to tie with Mason. It was only the women's second win since 2000. The Eagles earned wins in three of nine relays, and Watts was on all three of those: the 200 medley relay (1:46.03), the 200 free relay (1:37.44) and the 3x100 butterfly relay (2:55.81). Those three wins earned 120 points for American.

Next up, on Saturday, Oct. 5, the Eagles will head to UMBC for a dual with the Retrievers at 1 pm. AU's first home dual meet is set for Friday, Oct. 11 against Georgetown at 4 pm.
