WASHINGTON - For helping lead American University volleyball to an undefeated opening weekend with four wins, freshman Zedo Yilmaz has been named the Gregorio's Trattoria Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of August 26-September 1.

Yilmaz reached double digits in kills in all four of AU's matches, leading or tying for the team lead in three of those. She recorded two double-doubles in her first collegiate matches. She added a match-high 15 digs to 14 kills in a three-set sweep at Georgetown, and posted 10 digs to go with 12 kills in a 3-1 win at George Washington.

In the Patriot League statistical rankings, Yilmaz is atop the list in both kills per set (4.0) and points per set (4.54) while ranking seventh in digs per set (3.07) and 10th in hitting percentage (.280).

The Eagles will be playing their next five matches at home in Bender Arena, starting with a 2:30 p.m. contest against Coppin State on Wednesday, Sept. 4.
