BOYDS, Md. – After earning its first win of the season on Saturday, the American University men's soccer team will look to make it two in a row on Tuesday as it hosts UMBC at 7:00 p.m. for AU's Hispanic Heritage Celebration at the Maryland SoccerPlex.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT AMERICAN
- American enters Tuesday's game coming off a 2-0 win over Patriot League preseason favorite Loyola Maryland, as the Eagles return to non-conference play in search of a second win.
- The Eagles' goals came from Junior midfielder Troy Elgersma and senior forward Sam Hershey, both players' first goals of the season. The pair assisted the goals they didn't score in the Loyola game, giving each player a goal and an assist.
- Sophomore midfielder Reyes Parra also added a pair of assists, which rank him sixth in the Patriot League in assists.
- Junior goalkeeper Matthew Tibbetts recorded his third clean sheet of the season against Loyola Maryland, earning his second consecutive Patriot League Men's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week selection in the process.
- Tibbetts currently leads the Patriot League in its four major goalkeeping statistics: goals against average (1.00), save percentage (.833), shutouts per game (.500) and saves per game (5.00). He leads the League with three shutouts so far this season.
- Graduate student Cooper Nunn has played every second of American's last 40 games.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT UMBC
- UMBC enters Tuesday's game with a 3-1-2 record after a 4-0 victory over Saint Joseph's University as the Retrievers look for their second win in a row.
- The four goals in the most recent win came from different players: sophomore defender Lasse Kelp, junior midfielder Ty Stroud, junior forward Robbie Ryerson, and freshman forward Matteo Samori, his first career goal
- Senior forward Alex Wroblewski and graduate student defender Hans Nesheim were credited with assists. Nesheim has a team high 4 assists on the season, good for second in the America East.
- The Retrievers have found themselves in foul trouble this season, drawing 14 yellow cards and a red card thus far.
- UMBC's two other wins came against Howard (3-2) and Niagara (4-0).
- This will be just the second road test for a Retriever squad that has played five home games thus far.
- UMBC was picked to finish fourth in the America East preseason poll. Senior midfielder Jago Lott and junior defender Lasse Kelp were named to the Preseason All-Conference Team.
