BETHLEHEM, Pa. – American University lacrosse junior
Jenna Walls has been voted to the Academic All-Patriot League Team, it was announced by the League office on Wednesday. This is Walls' first time being honored to the team.
Navy, Army, Holy Cross, and Loyola each had two selections to the team and Navy's Tori DiCarlo received the selection for Scholar-Athlete of the Year. American, Bucknell, Lafayette, and Lehigh each had one honoree.
Walls earns her first appearance on the Academic All-League team this season after finishing her junior campaign on a high note. The defender closed 2024 with no turnovers and forced a team-leading 22 turnovers from opposition to finish fourth in the league in average caused turnovers per game (1.38). She also collected 19 ground balls and had an assist on the offensive end. She currently holds a cumulative GPA of 3.95 and is studying Biology.
Voting for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year and All-Academic Team is done by the league's field hockey sports information directors who are not eligible to vote for their own student-athletes.
To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor. These honors recognize student-athletes who excel in their sport and the classroom.
