HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Loyola led by 10 before the Eagles cut it to seven, 18-11, thanks to a triple from Molly Lavin to end the first quarter.
  • Initially, it would get worse for the Eagles in the second quarter, with the Greyhounds extending their lead to 12 with seven minutes left in the half before the Eagles surged back in fantastic fashion.
  • The Eagles went on a 15-3 run in the last five minutes of the half, winning the frame, 23-13, to be up 34-31 off an incredible last-second three pointer from Laura Nogues. LeMaster led the Eagles in the first half with eight points and Rescifina had five.
  • To open the second half, Rescifina hit back-to-back shots to grab set a new of nine and forced the Greyhounds to burn a timeout when the Eagles started the half on a 6-2 run, up 40-33 two minutes into the third.
  • The Greyhounds would fight back though, and the ebb and flow would continue. The hosts finished the third frame on a 15-5 run to retake the lead, up 54-52 with one quarter to go. Six of Loyola's points came from Kimmie Hicks.
  • The final frame was as chaotic as the rest of the contest, with 1:39 left to play, the Eagles were up three, 65-62. There were three lead changes and the largest lead the squad had amassed in the quarter was three, but the largest lead Loyola managed was just one, with 9:32 left in the quarter.
