Matt Rogers Named PL Player of the Week; Gregorio's Trattoria Student-Athlete of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For his efforts in a 2-0 week for the American University Men's Basketball team, senior forward Matt Rogers has been voted as the Patriot League PenFed Credit Union Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season and the third time in his career. Rogers is also the Gregorio's Trattoria Student-Athlete of the Week for AUEagles.com.

Rogers scored 23 points in each of the Eagles' two games this week. In a three-point road win at Patriot League-leading Lafayette, Rogers led all scorers with his 23 points, adding 8 rebounds, an assist and a block.

In an overtime win at Bender Arena against Bucknell, Rogers single-handedly outscored the Bison in the extra period with 6 of his 23 points. He added 9 rebounds and 7 assists to his standout performance.

For the week, Rogers made 16-of-33 shots from the field, including 6 three-pointers. The two wins for the week moved American into outright third place in the Patriot League with just one month remaining in the regular season.

*Rogers averaged 23.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists to lead American to victories over Lafayette (69-66) and Bucknell (75-66, OT) last week. 
*He scored a game-high 23 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Eagles to a three-point victory over the Leopards on Wednesday night. 
*The senior forward led all scorers with 23 points and added nine rebounds and seven assists in a 75-66 overtime win over the Bison on Saturday.

*Scovens averaged 20.5 points, shooting 61.5 percent (16-for-26) from the field and 50 percent (4-for-8) from 3-point range in games against Colgate and Lafayette last week. 
*The freshman forward scored a game-high 24 points, including a buzzer-beating 3-pointer against the Leopards to send the game into overtime. 
*He scored 17 points on 8-of-13 shooting and four rebounds against the Raiders.
