Women’s Basketball Heads on the Road to Take on Bucknell

WASHINGTON – After a quick one-game homestand, American University women's basketball heads back on the road to face the Bucknell University Bison in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. The afternoon tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.

INSIDE THE SERIES  
  • This will be the 55th meeting between American and Bucknell. The sides have historically been evenly matched, with American narrowly trailing in the all-time series 28-26.
  • American will hope to complete the regular season sweep of Bucknell after winning the first contest at home 58-47 on January 6th. Last season, American dropped both games to Bucknell.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT AMERICAN  
  • American faced a short bench on Wednesday with several key rotational players dealing with injuries or illnesses resulting in a tough 60-55 loss at home to Lafayette. American is still tied for second in the Patriot League with Army West Point with a record of 6-3 in league play (8-12 overall).
  • Lauren Stack and Anna LeMaster both recorded double-doubles in the loss, each recording 12 points and 10 rebounds. It was LeMaster's first career double-double and Stack's fourth.
  • Ivy Bales led the Eagles in scoring with 13 points, adding eight rebounds of her own as well. Bales, Stack, and LeMaster all grabbed two steals as well. Bales leads the team with 44 steals on the season, the second highest total in the Patriot League. She also leads the Eagles in rebounding with an average of 5.0 per game.
  • American continues to find its rhythm defensively, allowing 60 points or fewer for their fifth consecutive game. The team also sits second in the Patriot League with 8.55 steals/g.
  • Offensively, Emily Johns leads American with 12.0 ppg.
  • American will have the week off after facing Bucknell, returning home for a matchup against defending Patriot League Champion Holy Cross next Saturday at 3 p.m.
WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT BUCKNELL
  • Bucknell squeaked by Loyola Maryland in Baltimore on Wednesday 61-59 after a close contest throughout. The Bison improved to 3-6 in league play (6-14 overall) and sits in ninth in the Patriot League.
  • Bucknell was led by freshman forward Ashley Sofilkanich who recorded a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds, leading her team in both categories.
  • Emma Theodorsson also added 18 points. She leads the Bison with an average of 12.5 ppg, with Sofilkanich not far off with 12.0 ppg.
  • Sofilkanich and Theodorsson are also both key pieces of Bucknell's defensive game, leading the team in rebounds with 5.7 rpg and 5.6 rpg respectively. Additionally, Solfikanich is second in the Patriot League with 42 blocked shots on the season.
  • After hosting American, Buckell will have a week off before traveling to Boston to take on the Terriers next Saturday at 2 p.m.
